Based on the shadows she observed on the ground The artist took months experimenting with a method to convey objects in two dimensions on canvas. Instead, the object is transformed into a re-creation of itself in which the painting transforms into the medium for it's personal interpretation by painting, particularly when the subject is living or perishable items like people or fruits. Alexa Meade's distinctive style of painting which is very ephemeral in nature, is apparent. The only piece of her art to survive is her photograph. Trompe-l'oeil art is created through the combination of two methods of photographing and painting. The result is an unflattened and two-dimensional picture. Meade will sometimes integrate her painting into the three-dimensional surroundings around it, which allows for them to interact within the world of their own. The lines between performance, installation, photography and painting are thus dissolved.
